The City of Racine is seeking a dynamic, organized, and community-focused professional to serve as Recreation Program Coordinator III Community Centers, Youth Sports, Special Events & Activities within the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services Department. This leadership position plays a vital role in strengthening community engagement, fostering youth development, and delivering high-quality recreational opportunities that serve residents of all ages. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational and supervisory skills, a commitment to excellent customer service, and a passion for creating positive, inclusive experiences for the Racine community.
Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor at the Dr. Martin Luther King Community Center, this position is responsible for planning, promoting, coordinating, and supervising a wide range of recreation programs and events in various indoor and outdoor facilities throughout the community. Programming includes, but is not limited to, Community Center activities, Youth Sports leagues and clinics, Track & Field, 7x7 Football League, Movies in the Park, Laurel Clark Fountain programming, Lake FX Games, and other seasonal special events and community activities. This position is based out of the Dr. Martin Luther King Community Center and is responsible for ensuring programs are well-organized, safely executed, and responsive to community needs.
Plans recreation programs and assists Community Center Recreation Supervisor in planning programs and operations at Dr. Martin Luther King Community Center and other Community Centers.
This position will work second shift hours and some weekends and typically average 35 hours per week. Times may vary seasonally or as assigned by Supervisor. Performs related work as assigned by the Superintendent of Recreation and Cultural Services and Recreation Supervisor at the Dr. Martin Luther King Center.
A high school diploma or its equivalent and Three (3) to five (5) years' experience in recreation programming or other associated fields. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered. Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted Wisconsin Driver's license.
Graduate of an accredited college or university with a degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Programming or related field is preferred. Knowledge of a wide variety of recreation interests and activities in the community. Ability to supervise part-time staff and volunteers. Ability to exercise good judgment and maintain an effective work environment. Strong leadership qualities as evidenced by participation in community or educational endeavors. Strong oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to deal with the public in an effective and tactful manner.

Copy machine, telephone, postage meter, computer, fax machine, van and automobile, scissors and miscellaneous office equipment, cell phones and multi-channel two-way radios.
