Job Description

Handyman

ISS offers full-time employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, as well as a comprehensive leave program based on employment status. The hourly pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00.

A Handyman will support the "Manager" in a safe, efficient, and professional manner with preventative, corrective, and general maintenance for the Client. Other duties include, but not limited to, daily assessments of systems, maintaining a clean working environment, and other various duties as assigned by the Manager, while adhering to all HS&E standards. The Handyman is responsible for performing preventative maintenance in accordance with the CMMS schedule, assisting other maintenance personnel with repairs to electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, general facility and grounds infrastructure, and providing general laborer support. The Handyman is also responsible for following all processes to support client satisfaction. The Handyman is an entry level, general labor position.

Position Duties / Responsibilities

  • Performs general handyman tasks around the facility including door repairs, setups, light mechanical, light plumbing repairs, paint, patch, light bulb replacement, and other general laborer tasks as directed by the Manager 35%
  • Resolves client customer work order requests on computer-based work order system 25%
  • Assists tradesmen with repair, adjustment and maintenance of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems and associated equipment as directed by the Manager 15%
  • Performs and documents maintenance and repairs in a timely and accurate manner 10%
  • Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintains a clean and safe workspace 5%
  • Performs manual labor tasks such as loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials 5%
  • Performs general building rounds and is responsible for reporting conditions observed 5%

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • 0-1 years in Facility Maintenance or related field
  • Valid state driver's license with clean MV record (if operating moving vehicles)
  • Any trade certificate (desired)

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English required

Works and participates well as a team member

Good organization skills; disciplined approach to daily activities; takes a sense of pride in all aspects of the job

Presents self in professional manner: neat appearance and grooming.

The Handyman does not supervise other ISS TS personnel or third-party vendors.

While performing the duties of this job, the Handyman is regularly required to stand at eight-hour intervals with occasional scheduled breaks, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The individual frequently is required to climb stairs and ladders. The individual must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds, at higher than chest level and be able to tolerate adverse working conditions due to climate and tolerate extreme temperature changes.
