Summary The Fleet Manager is accountable for the proper maintenance of all TEP vehicles. This position focuses on the strategic management of vehicle selection; vehicle preventive maintenance; acquisition and disposal of vehicles, and proper handling of accidents or vehicle insurance claims. Supervisory Responsibilities: No Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business, or related field preferred (High School Diploma/GED required) Valid Driver’s License and an acceptable motor vehicle record in compliance with DOT Acceptable motor vehicle record in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations 5+ years of prior experience in a fleet management role, with a proven track record managing a fleet of 300+ units Must be flexible to handle multiple tasks in a busy environment Proficient in using fleet management software, telematics platforms, and multi-state DMV portals Requires good decision and problem-solving skills Confidence and credibility with excellent communication and relationship management skills Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Ability to understand the varying vehicle types and their intended uses Knowledge or ability to learn applications and software programs designed for fleet management Understanding of DOT and States Motor Vehicle regulations and Laws Ability to evaluate the condition of a vehicle and make recommendations for repairs and/or replacement Understanding of registration renewals Expertise in developing fleet strategy (e.g., repair vs. sell analysis) and utilization optimization Strong negotiation skills for managing vendor contracts and service provider relationships Analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into actionable performance improvements Excellent communication skills to manage driver feedback and general public complaints/compliments Essential Functions Responsible for acquisition and disposal of fleet motor vehicles. Manage the acquisition and disposal of 300+ motor vehicles. Develop and oversee annual fleet replacement and capital expenditure (CapEx) budgets. Manage all vehicle registrations, renewals, and annual state inspections through various DMV website portals across multiple states. Actively utilize telematics data to monitor driver behavior; identify risk patterns and develop safety initiatives to reduce incidents. Develop KPIs and benchmarking to monitor fleet performance, identify areas for improvement, and optimize utilization. Ensure all DOT and OSHA mechanical and certification requirements are met across all applicable locations. Report/Track vehicle insurance claims. Rental car check in/check out, rental management. Responsible for negotiating vendor contracts. Develop overall fleet strategy- (repair v sell, utilization optimization targets) Track and maintain real time records of vehicle locations. Ensure all DOT and OSHA mechanical and certification requirements are met for commercial motor vehicles. Develop and implement vehicle and equipment preventative maintenance programs. Develop and maintain outside vendor and service provider relationships. Manages fleet department budgets. Complies with all company and customer safety policies and procedures. Manage and oversee auto accident/claims. Manage driver complaints/complements from the general public. Oversee DOT program in applicable locations. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Physical Demands This position may require full body movements such as walking, lifting, standing, crouching, etc. Must be able to lift or move to 40 pounds frequently. Use of computer for extended periods of time may be required. Work Environment Majority of work performed in a climate-controlled office setting, but some work in a non-climate controlled storage space, or outside in the natural elements of weather may be required.
