Overview

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and modification of industrial equipment at customer sites. This role requires a strong balance of electrical and mechanical expertise, along with the ability to communicate effectively with on-site personnel.

Remote along with travel to client sites

Training & Onboarding

• 1 week onsite at local office for onboarding and initial training
• 3–4 weeks of onsite shadowing with a Lead Technician
• Goal: Gain experience working on 5 different machine types

Travel Requirements

• Travel US and Canada. If servicing WI, Michigan, IL - fly into Chicago, get service truck from office, then head out.
• Typical schedule: Depart Monday early morning, return Thursday or Friday
• Occasional Sunday evening travel depending on distance
• Work-from-home flexibility on some Fridays
• Frequent overnight travel required

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay: $40 - $45/hr (have flex for senior level candidate)
• Overtime: Significant paid OT opportunities available

Team & Growth

• Current team: 3 Field Technicians
• Hiring: 2–3 additional technicians
• Reports to: Field Service Manager
• High demand: Service and delivery booked out several months
• Company expansion underway, including increased local manufacturing

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment installation, service, and modifications (e.g., pumps, motors)
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems
• Work with control panels and PLCs (primarily troubleshooting, light programming)
• Train customer operators on equipment usage
• Complete detailed service reports and documentation

Qualifications

• Strong mix of electrical and mechanical experience (required)
• Hands-on PLC troubleshooting experience
• Experience with:
• Motors, pumps, sensors, and control systems
• Ability to read and work with control panels (no full wiring required)
• Mechanically inclined backgrounds (e.g., automotive) highly valued
• Wastewater industry experience is a plus, not required
• Strong communication skills and ability to train operators
• Detail-oriented with documentation

Requirements

• Must be eligible to obtain a passport
• Must pass a nationwide background check
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available)
