Hunt Valley Environmental, LLC (HVE) is a small environmental engineering firm located in Westmoreland County, PA. HVE has a diverse group of private, public and non-profit clients in Western Pennsylvania. Overview We are seeking an Environmental Scientist to support a broad range of environmental consulting duties, such as site investigations, permitting, and restoration across environmental and infrastructure projects. The role emphasizes field biology and wetlands - from delineations and habitat assessments to mitigation site design/monitoring - while also contributing to Phase I ESAs, water quality work, and GIS mapping. Key Responsibilities Environmental Permitting - Assist in preparing applications and supporting documents for federal, state, and local environmental permits (wetlands, streams, threatened/endangered species, and water quality). Compliance Monitoring - Conduct field inspections and collect data to ensure ongoing compliance with environmental permits and regulatory requirements. Field Biology & Wetlands - Perform wetland delineations, habitat assessments, and vegetation surveys to support permitting and agency coordination. Water Resources - Collect and analyze water quality and stream data to meet regulatory standards and support permit applications. Mitigation & Restoration - Support the development and monitoring of wetland and stream mitigation sites to satisfy permit conditions. Site Assessments & Reporting - Contribute to Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, background research, and preparation of environmental reports. GIS & Data Management - Use ArcGIS and mobile tools to map resources, track compliance, and support permit documentation. Other duties as assigned by the President. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent. 5+ years' experience; consulting experience is a plus. Strong technical writing, time management, and teamwork. Physically able to perform fieldwork; comfortable working on in the field as well as an office setting.
